Biography of Hyacinth Ugochukwu Igbom
A Life of Service, Faith, and Impact
Born on December 27, 1943, into the family of Nze Igbayakam Igbom (Duru Nwafuruaku), Bro. Hyacinth Ugochukwu Igbom’s life has been a journey of resilience, faith, and unwavering commitment to God and humanity.
He began his education at St. Simon’s Anglican Church School, Awo-Idemili, Imo State (1953–1959), where he excelled in his studies and passed the common entrance examination. Though financial challenges prevented him from pursuing secondary education, his passion for knowledge and service led him to study Nursing at E. A. Njoku Dispensary, graduating as a Dispenser Assistant (1963–1965).
As a young nurse, Hyacinth diligently served hundreds of patients, treating the sick, aiding childbirths, tending to the wounded, and offering hope where others had lost it. His calling, however, extended beyond medicine.
Driven by his deep faith, he attended Evangelism School and soon became an evangelist and leader at St. Philip Anglican Church, Sari Iganmu, Orile, Lagos, where he rose to serve as Parish Evangelism Leader. His passion for soul-winning also saw him join the Deliverance Healing Unit (DHU), where he preached the gospel, prayed for the sick, and witnessed God’s power to heal and transform lives.
His ministry also extended into Chaplaincy at Alaba, Lagos, and over the years, he became known as a true servant of God — humble, passionate, and uncompromising in his mission.
Entrepreneurship & Community Leadership
Bro. Hyacinth was not only a man of the pulpit but also of enterprise. He established Godswill Patent Medicine Store, and went on to become the founder of Balogun Medicine Dealers Association, where he courageously stopped the incessant raids by regulatory authorities, protecting many small traders from hardship.
Later, he replicated this success by founding the Amukoko Medicine Dealers Association and establishing businesses including Cab Pharmaceutical and Amourpharm Pharmaceutical Ltd. His biggest venture, however, was the founding of Our Saviour Jesus Hospital, Mosafejo, Amukoko, Lagos, in 1990, a facility that treated countless patients, including cases many deemed incurable.
Charity & Service to the Church
A devoted Anglican, Hyacinth gave generously to the church. He donated the first cabinet pulpit to St. Simon’s Anglican Church, Awo-Idemili, and made significant contributions to the church’s new building, where his son became the first child baptized after its dedication in 1984.
Through divine inspiration, he led the planting of a new congregation, Christ Anglican Church, Awo-Idemili, guiding its foundation-laying and building, and giving the church its divinely revealed name. His faithfulness has earned him numerous awards, including Meritorious Service Awards from EFAC Fellowship, Awo-Idemili, and St. Philip Anglican Church, Sari Iganmu.
A Family Man
Above all, Bro. Hyacinth is a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. With his beloved wife, Florence, he raised six successful children and is blessed with 13 grandchildren. A peacemaker, he enjoys reading, writing evangelism materials, conducting deliverance, and interceding in prayers.
Biography of Florence Chinyere Igbom
A Woman of Grace, Strength, and Endless Kindness
On May 10, 1955, a jewel was born to Chief Ebenezer and Lolo Bridget Odikaesime. That jewel is Florence Chinyere Igbom, a woman whose life has been a beautiful blend of resilience, generosity, and devotion to both God and people.
She began her early education at St. Simon’s Anglican School, Amaimo, Imo State (1963–1968), where her brilliance shone so brightly that she passed the common entrance examination while still in Primary 4. But like many great stories, life threw its challenges; financial constraints prevented her from advancing her education then. Yet Florence never allowed this setback to define her. Instead, she would later pursue Adult Education at the Teachers Training College, earning her TC2 qualification with determination and pride.
In 1974, she married the love of her life, Bro. Hyacinth Ugochukwu Igbom, and together they built a marriage blessed with six wonderful children and now thirteen cherished grandchildren. Their home has been a place of warmth, discipline, laughter, and above all, love.
Florence has always been industrious and enterprising. Even while managing her home, she ventured into different businesses: trading pure water, drinks, and running supermarkets. At one point, she managed the family’s pharmaceutical company, Amorpharm Pharmaceutical Ltd., standing shoulder-to-shoulder with her husband in enterprise. Later, her nurturing side birthed Fountain Foundation Nursery and Primary School, Mosafejo, Amukoko, Lagos, where she served as proprietress, shaping the lives of countless children with care and discipline.
Her heart for service extends far beyond her family. Florence has always been deeply involved in women’s groups and church fellowships. For more than two decades, she served as a leader in the Ubahaezedeke Women Wing, Awo-Idemili, Imo State, first as Assistant Chairlady for 10 years and later as Chairlady for another 10 years. She was also a strong and passionate executive member of the Kri Kri Star Women Association, Awo-Idemili, and served diligently as Treasurer of the Mothers’ Union and Women’s Guild (MUWG) at St. Philip Anglican Church, Sari Iganmu, Orile, Lagos for 9 years.
For these labors of love, Florence has been recognized and celebrated by various communities, including an award from Christ Anglican Church, Awo-Idemili, Imo State for her outstanding support and contributions.
Her faith has always been her compass. As a PCC member at both All Saints Anglican Church, Ajegunle and St. Philip Anglican Church, Sari Iganmu, she offered her wisdom, counsel, and resources with humility.
Yet Florence is not only about work and service. She is a woman of joy and energy. She enjoys handball, dance, football, and cooking. She is the kind of grandmother who can cook a meal, watch a football match with excitement, and still out-dance everyone at a celebration. Her life has also taken her across borders, with memorable visits to Dubai and Pune, India.
Above all, Florence is loved because she is generous, approachable, and kind. To know her is to know a woman whose heart is as wide as her smile — a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and community leader whose legacy is written not just in awards or achievements, but in the countless lives she has touched.
